The first performance in the Classical Music Morning series, which begins later this month, comes from pianist and Classic FM Rising Star nominee Iyad Sughayer.

Iyad, who grew up in Jordan and studied at Chetham’s School of Music, will be performing a programme including Mozart, Sibelius and Khachaturian on Sunday, January 14.

“Any successful society has to have music and the arts at its core and it has got to start in schools,” says the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance Gold Medal winner. “If music is not funded for children at a young age, music will not survive. We need to make music as important as maths, science and English in the schools’ curriculum.”

The following month, cellist Maciej Kulakowski will bring music from JS Bach, Gaspar Cassado and Sulkhan Tsintsadze to Godinton House.

The Polish musician has performed as a soloist with the likes of the Warsaw Philharmonic, London Mozart Players and Brussels Philharmonic.

Maciej will perform at the stately home on Sunday, February 11.

The Young Classical Artists Trust helps musicians in their transition from studying music to becoming professional performers.

Chloe West, of Godinton House, said: “These concerts are very much in keeping with the music enjoyed by the last owner of Godinton House, Alan Wyndham Green.

“Alan was a huge supporter of music and opera so we are really looking forward to welcoming talented young musicians to play in our historic Great Hall.

“The recitals will start at 11am followed by refreshments and there will be an opportunity to talk to the artists.”
