It led to its closure as the stricken vehicle was recovered.

Stagecoach South East tweeted to say its 90/91/92/92A services would be diverting via Primrose Rd and River in both directions until it was cleared.

It thanked customers for their patience.

The latest crash comes just a day after a lorry hit a low bridge in Kearnsey, on the edge of Dover, yesterday morning.

Train services were disrupted as engineers were called in to check the damage.

It led to an appeal from Network Rail for such accidents to be reported after the driver involved failed to do so.

There was a second bridge strike yesterday afternoon, this time in Tunbridge Wells, where a lorry struck a bridge near High Brooms Railway Station.
