Arrest after reports of man approaching lone women in Maidstone town centre

A man has been arrested by police who launched an investigation after lone women were followed and approached in Maidstone town centre.

It was reported that several people were spoken to inappropriately in recent weeks after being tracked by a man.

On Tuesday, officers were called to suspicious incidents at Fremlin Walk and Week Street.

The next day, a 29-year-old man from Chatham was arrested on suspicion of public order offences, and is currently bailed to return to a police station next Wednesday.

PC Keith Roostan said: "We are trying to establish the circumstances of any possible offences and believe it is likely there may be a number of women or teenage girls who have been approached, or may feel they have been followed in recent days."
