The Trottiscliffe C of E Primary school pupil was accompanied by mum and dad, Anna and Mark Shallcross, who helped him set up a fund-raising page, and also sometimes by his dog Olly.

Mrs Shallcross said: "He was delighted. He was only trying to raise £300, but people just kept donating."

"Our tiny village nestles at the foot of the North Downs. With so many hills, it wasn’t an easy challenge for him.

"Benji was born prematurely at 28 weeks, which is 12, weeks early, so we are very proud of what he has achieved. He has such determination."

The family were on holiday in France, when Benjamin unexpectedly put in his first appearance. He weighed in at only 2lb 12oz.
