Ambulance called to Sheppey Community Hospital after collapse at minor injuries unit

A person was taken to hospital in a serious condition after collapsing at a minor injuries unit.

An ambulance and air ambulance were called to Sheppey Community Hospital, Minster, at 10am today after medical staff gave an individual immediate treatment.

A spokesman for SECAmb said: "Crews were called at approximately 10am today to the Minor Injuries Unit at Sheppey Community Hospital to reports a person had collapsed.

"The person received immediate treatment from hospital teams before the arrival of ambulance crews and the air ambulance service.

"The person was then taken to Medway hospital by road in a serious condition."

As a result of the incident all of Chalkwell Coach Hire's Island services were disrupted for two hours.

A statement on Facebook said: "All Island services were disturbed due to an incident in Sheppey hospital.

"Our vehicles are now allowed to leave the premises and services are running but with delays.

"All drop-offs and pick-ups for the Sheppey hospital will now be served at the closest registered bus stop, which is the Sanspareil Avenue bus stop."

A spokesman for Chalkwell confirmed that all Island Buses services were now running as usual.
