A Winter's Trail family self-led walk at Betteshanger Park near Deal

It may be the middle of winter, but all the more reason to immerse yourself and the family in the great outdoors.

Betteshanger Country Park, near Deal, has its Winter’s Trail running right until Sunday, February 24, so there’s plenty of time for the kids to tackle it.

Miss Hazel the Hedgehog doesn’t want to hibernate - she wants to party! She has the bunting out and jokes ready, but she needs help finding her guests.

Little ones can pick up a trail booklet for £1.50 to follow the trail and help Hazel find her woodland pals.The self-led trail includes venturing into the forest, unravelling riddles and completing activities. Wellies are recommended, it suits ages three to eight, and runs from 9.30am to 3pm. Collect a pack from cycle hire, no booking is required.

It’s now only a few weeks until Betteshanger opens its new visitor centre, which includes the Kent Mining Museum. The 121-hectare former colliery site’s centre with museum and mining-themed outdoor play equipment, is due to open on Saturday, March 30. Find out more at betteshanger-park.co.uk
